kate vs. lily vs. agyness

i see a resemblance here:

kate bosworth, lily donaldson

anyone else see it too? like seriously, their profiles are exactly the same, even their noses.

but i love lily's laid back style and that worn-in leather jacket she always has on; unlike some top models of the moment, she actually deserves to be called one.

models' styles are always either a) simple, classy, and effortlessly chic, like Lily's or Raquel Zimmermann's, or b) unusual and sometimes make you wonder what the fuck they're wearing and why, like Agyness Deyn's. her outfits are horrendous.

i wish they'd wear more colors though...at least agyness's got that one down.

currently...

craving: a green tea frappuccino. i haven't had one in months. i'm in withdrawal. seriously.

admiring: spring beauty. light pinks and corals replace the deep red lip colors of fall, yet the winehouse-esque winged liner is still lingering; but overall, a neutral palette with natural, tousled, i-just-rolled-out-of-bed hair looks best.

wanting: clear, plastic sunglasses. the PVC/plastic/lucite trend's seen an array of accessories, from bangles to bags to shoes, but never sunglasses! while all those other clear accessories were just mere fads of the season (which is, thankfully, over), sunglasses with translucent frames have the potential to be actual timeless, classic closet staples. and they don't look tacky. tom ford is at the top of my list, so far.

a restaurant dilemma, bad hair, and a maltepoo

spring break is here! unfortunately, my brother just left about a minute ago to go to Hooters with a friend and i didn't know that he was going, and i really want some wings; but tomorrow is Easter, which means that my family and i, and some friends, will be having brunch somewhere with really good food. P.F. Chang's, perhaps? whatever the deal is, i know exactly what i'll be wearing: a light, lavender cotton mini-dress, a black leather jacket, and brown strappy sandals.

a few hits from this past week:

lauren conrad, blake lively, vanessa hudgens

and speaking of mini-dresses, i would love to raid Lauren's closet. i don't think i've really disliked any dress she's worn yet. Blake/Serena's looking pretty cheesy, and the schoolgirl uniform isn't new to any of us, except for the bright red, slouchy boots. while i wish i had a pair like that, it would be pretty senseless to invest in one now, all things considered. but isn't her maltepoo (the dog) adorable? and lastly, Vanessa's getting more and more effortlessly chic every time i see a picture of her, and i love her jacket+scarf combo.

but enough of the good stuff.

according to the new Marc Jacobs ad, Victoria Beckham wouldn't look good with a short fringe, complete with a bow. and for his new movie, Chapter 27, Jared Leto gained so much weight that he kind of looks like Perez Hilton in the poster. the movie is about the murder of John Lennon, and even though it also stars Lindsay Lohan, it looks promising.

you ain't born typical

you may have heard of The Kills. you may have seen the cover for their recently released album, Midnight Boom, on the sidebar of this blog, where it stayed for a couple weeks. you may have read about them in magazine issues from last month, namely Nylon or maybe Spin, where they promoted their new record. you may have listened to one of their songs, maybe their hit "U.R.A Fever," which i can't get enough of. and if you haven't, then you're missing out.

the Kills are Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, better known as VV and Hotel, and they're pretty much two musical geniuses based in London; not to mention that they're style is killer. think pointed black boots, worn-out skinny jeans, black blazers, and hair that looks like it hadn't been cared for in a while.

just a few reasons why they're my latest musical infatuation.

check out their video for "U.R.A Fever," you're sure to fall in love.

and according to L.A. rag mag, Hince is engaged to cokehead-fashionista-pothead-supermodel Kate Moss

even though she's so obviously shitfaced in the above picture, she still looks at least half decent. better than she was in the Pete Doherty days, at least.

currently...

wanting: another light, airy dress and a sweet little romper.

i often see in spring fashion spreads some girls running around on a beach or an open field, with barefeet and windblown hair and a short, flowy dress, looking like they couldn't be happier, and sadly i haven't been able to do that yet. so i have an idea/goal this season: whenever i go the beach, i'm wearing a dress and i'm gonna run around like a crazy person (shoes optional).

impatiently waiting for: gossip girl to go back on the air.

spotted: the cast of my favorite show on the streets of the upper east side, wearing what looked like prep school uniforms, and sitting on those foldable chairs that they have on sets ... which can only mean one thing: gossip girl is back! mark your calendars. april 21st.

thinking: why, madonna, why?!

sure, she looks good, but don't forget that she's old enough to be a grandmother, and she writes books for children.

ps: this is a new blog feature!!

(and sorry for the lack of updates lately, i've been busy and time seems to fly by faster, thanks to daylight savings. i hate setting my clock forward. it totally ruined my week, i'll tell you that.)

irina l. + sean l.

remember back when we first started hearing about Irina Lazareanu and Sean Lennon writing/singing a song together? i might be late, but i've just now heard it. the song, called "Strange Places," really had my hopes up that it would be this great song, having heard about Irina's work with Babyshambles. the guitar riff is really good (must be those Beatles genes), as is the melody, and Irina's voice is somewhat reminiscent of Mazzy Star. at least to me, it is. overall, it's a nice song. could be teeny bit better though ... maybe its just the shitty quality of this youtube "video" though?

and that would make her the 394579th model to try singing or acting after modelling...

a little photo-op with the man himself (lol):

and more:

seeing red

what's black, white, and red all over?

answer: who cares.

brunettes are finally having their moment (LOVE IT!) and pretty soon, we might be seeing a lot more redheads, too. again, love it.

alison sudol (a fine frenzy), lydia hearst, ashlee, olga sherer

speaking of red, i'm obsessed with ashlee simpson's wayfarers. ever since last week when i saw my friend wearing blue ones, i've been looking all over for a pair of my own. no, i lied ... ever since exactly two years ago when i saw a picture of nicole richie wearing oversize red shades, i've been lusting after them. i wonder how often she goes sunglasses shopping, she probably has like 200 pairs (and i want every single one of them!)
